Digital Arterial Pulse-wave Analyzer
FACT: 150 years ago heart disease was virtually unheard of. Today it is the #1 cause of death in America. 1,000,000 Americans will die this year of heart disease. Every 20 seconds a person in the U.S. has a heart attack, and every 60 seconds a person will die from one. More than 500,000 U.S. women die each year from heart disease, making it, not breast cancer (43,000 deaths annually) women's #1 killer. Not to mention the fact that 300,000 American's will die of a sudden heart attack (Tim Russert is a recent prime example) with no symptoms...thus comes the phrase "The Silent Killer". More than likely someone you know, perhaps someone very dear to you, has suffered a death due to this insidious disease. I lost my mother on 8/2/08 to a massive heart attack. Are you at Risk? Cardiovascular risk factors include:
What can you do to prevent it from happening to you or a loved one? As with all diseases, early detection is key. And, as the saying goes "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure". The word diagnosis means complete knowledge. So the more information you can have about your health the more complete your knowledge. Along with standard blood tests to assess cardiovascular risk is a breakthrough FDA cleared technology that is now available at Accelerated Wellness. The Digital Pulsewave Analyzer (DPA) is an excellent non-invasive way to measure arterial health. It measures wave patterns created by your heart every time it beats. These patterns are helpful in determining just how healthy and flexible your blood vessels are. You want your arteries to have the flexibility of a latex glove and the smoothness of Teflon. Stiffness and congestion is no good! What do your arteries look like?
A digital printout illustrates if arteries are younger or older than the patients chronological age. This information is critical since the loss of elasticity can lead to high blood pressure, heart disease, heart attack and stroke. By discovering these changes before an actual disease is developed or diagnosed, lifestyle changes can be implemented to positively result in measurable change. For maintaining health, when an advanced “biological age” is discovered, or even after a diagnosis is made, lifestyle changes and appropriate supplementation are recommended.
The DPA Measures:
What is Pulse waveform? The pulse wave is the arterial pressure change that originates from the heartbeat and transmits through an artery. The pulse wave is changed with the systolic power of heart and the vascular condition (the arterial elasticity, resistance, etc.), followed by the pulse wave. The information reflects the functional status of cardiovascular circulation. The DPA irradiates IR (infrared) to the fingertip and obtains pulse wave information with the light absorbing characteristics of HbO2 of arterial blood. The medical terminology for this measurement method is Plethysmogram (PTG). The DPA, performs the automatic analysis of PTG (Plethysmogram), and also delivers secondary differentiated waveform (Accelerated Plethysmogram; (APG) and automatic analysis of it. The Analysis of PTG prepares the information of heart function, arterial elasticity, dilations, resistance, etc. The analysis of APG prepares the information of arterial aging and is used for control of arterial-sclerosis and hypertension. The benefit of the DPA is the ability to provide an early assessment of vascular disease and can profile individuals with respect to their cardiovascular health. What Will Your Grade Be?
What Doctors Have to Say About DPA Testing: "I have been using DPA clinically since 2005. I have screened hundreds of people. I can't tell you how valuable this information is for determining the health of the Cardiovascular System. I recommend this test for everyone." Dr. Jay Wilkens, ND "DPA allows me to screen my patients to see the current state of their health. I can then make appropriate recommendations and monitor their improvement. It takes away the guesswork. What an outstanding tool." Dr. John Moreno, PHD "Pulsewave technology takes advantage of the information locked up in
every heartbeat to give certified operators a "snapshot" of arterial
flexibility. Since stiffness comes first, before blockage and symptoms, this can
be a valuable early warning device. Now, people can take just a few short
minutes to find out if THEY may be at risk for vascular disease--even
though they don't have symptoms yet." "Before using the Digital Pulsewave Analyzer, I could see that many people had a predisposition for heart disease and congested arteries, but I could not tell to what degree. Now with this portable, affordable DPA, we see exactly what's going on, and can monitor any treatment programs to follow results. This is a vital tool for preventative cardiovascular care." Dr. Jane Smolink, MD "Digital Pulsewave Analysis (DPA) has been incorporated into my medical practice since July of 2005. As a clinical measure of vascular compliance, DPA functions as an effective screening modality as well as an important periodic therapeutic response indicator." Dr. Raynard G. Fabianke, MD "Nutraceuticals have been a huge part of my practice for a number of years. Until now, I never had objective proof of the effectiveness of the protocols I was using. Well, now it's here. The DPA provides the proof!" Dr. Jerry Register, DC

Are You A Caregiver? Along with Dr. Harry Elwardt and other DPA Certified Technicians, I believe that the use of the DPA can help caregivers reduce cardiovascular disease in their patient populations through early detection and prevention, and ultimately assist to decrease the associated financial costs placed on the health care industry. Cardiovascular disease is the #1 killer for both men & women in the United States with an estimated economic cost of approximately $298 billion. More DPA Certified Technicians are needed.
